Your Birth, Your Way: Midwifery Support in the Moment

Updated: Feb 11

Care rooted in trust, presence, and experience

Birth doesn’t follow a script—and that’s part of its power. Midwifery care is rooted in the belief that birth is not only a physiological process but a personal and powerful rite of passage.

So what does it look like when labor starts? Here's how I support you during the most important hours of your journey:

1. You Set the Pace

From early labor check-ins to the decision of when to come to your home, everything is tailored to your preferences and how your body is progressing. You are the authority of your experience.

2. A Calm, Grounded Presence

My job is to hold the space: to offer quiet reassurance, physical support, and medical guidance as needed. No bright lights or bossy orders—just presence and care.

3. Skilled Assessment, Respectful Communication

While you're focused on your body and your baby, I’m assessing vitals, positioning, and progression—without interrupting your flow. You'll always know what's going on and be part of any decisions.

4. Honoring the Sacred

Whether it’s dim lights, affirmations on the wall, or your favorite playlist, we co-create a birth space that feels safe and sacred to you.

5. After the Birth

I stay with you during the golden hours after birth—ensuring you’re stable, initiating breastfeeding if desired, checking on the baby, and making sure you feel supported.

Midwifery is about more than catching babies—it’s about trusting birth, respecting the birthing person, and offering skilled support that centers you.

Experience Birth Support That Centers You

When labor begins, you deserve more than just medical monitoring—you deserve a calm, skilled presence who honors your choices and holds space for your power.

My birth support is rooted in trust: trust in your body's wisdom, trust in the birth process, and trust in your ability to make the best decisions for your family. I bring clinical expertise without losing sight of the sacred nature of birth.

If you're planning a 2026 birth and want labor support that truly centers you, let's talk. I'm currently accepting new clients and would love to discuss how my approach might align with your birth vision.

FAQ Section:

Q: When do you come to my home during labor?

A: I typically join you when you're in active labor, though this varies based on your specific situation and preferences. We'll discuss timing during prenatal visits, and you can always call for guidance about when to have me come.

Q: How long do you stay after the birth?

A: I stay for 3-4 hours after birth to monitor your recovery, support initial feeding, perform newborn examinations, and make sure you're stable and comfortable before leaving you to rest with your new baby.

Q: What if I need pain relief during labor?

A: I support various comfort measures including position changes, water therapy, massage, and breathing techniques. For medical pain relief, we would need to transfer to the hospital, which we can discuss as part of your birth plan.

Q: Do you bring medical equipment?

A: Yes, I arrive with everything needed for a safe home birth, including oxygen, IV supplies, medications for hemorrhage, resuscitation equipment,  medications and equipment for tear repair, and tools for monitoring you and baby throughout labor.

Q: What if my labor is very long or very fast?

A: I stay with you regardless of how your labor unfolds. For very long labors, I have backup arrangements to ensure continuous care. For rapid labors, I'm trained to handle precipitous births safely.
