Visits built on relationship, education, and informed choice

When you're planning a home birth or seeking care with a licensed midwife, your prenatal visits look a little different from the average 10-minute OB appointment. At each visit, we’re not just checking your vitals—we’re building a relationship, answering your questions, and making sure your body, mind, and spirit are supported through every phase of pregnancy.
Here’s what you can expect when you walk through the door:
1. Time to Talk
Prenatal visits with a midwife are typically 30 minutes long. We’ll talk about how you’re feeling physically and emotionally, what changes you’re noticing, and any questions or concerns you have. This is your space to share what’s on your heart.
2. Holistic Health Monitoring
We’ll check your blood pressure, pulse, belly size, and baby’s position and heartbeat—of course. But we also look at the whole picture: nutrition, sleep, energy, support systems, and anything else that could impact your experience.
3. Informed Decision-Making
From genetic testing to birth preferences, I walk you through all your options and ensure you have the information to make the choices that are best for you. There’s no pressure—just partnership.
4. Building Your Birth Team
We talk through logistics and preferences, so when it’s time for birth, you know exactly how things will unfold.
5. Celebrating Milestones
Whether it’s hearing the heartbeat for the first time or preparing for the final stretch, each visit is an opportunity to honor the transformation you’re going through.
Prenatal care is more than routine check-ups—it’s a foundation of trust and shared decision-making. If you're looking for care that meets you where you are and sees the whole you, midwifery might be exactly what you’ve been searching for.

FAQ Section:
Q: How often will I have prenatal visits? A: Visit frequency follows the standard schedule: monthly until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, then weekly until birth. Each visit is 30-60 minutes, giving us plenty of time to connect and address any concerns.
Q: What if I have a high-risk pregnancy? A: Some higher-risk pregnancies can still be safely managed with midwifery care, often in collaboration with physician specialists. We'll review your specific situation during consultation and determine the safest approach for you.
Q: Do you do the same tests as my doctor would? A: I offer all standard prenatal screening and can discuss the pros and cons of each test so you can make informed decisions.
Q: Can my partner attend prenatal visits? A: Absolutely! Partners, friends, and family members are always welcome and encouraged to attend visits. These appointments are for you and your whole family, and I want everyone to feel prepared and supported.
Q: What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
A: Life happens, especially during pregnancy. I maintain a flexible scheduling policy and will work with you to reschedule visits as needed. Your care adapts to your life, not the other way around.
